15 Tips and Tricks for Google Nexus One

Android Operating system based Google Nexus One is becoming one of the popular mobile phone and it is getting its good share from Nokia and Apple’s iPhone.

Here are some tips and tricks for google Nexus One which you might not have noticed before but these ones are very handy.

  1. If you have a large collection of photos and you want to organize them according to date and location, simply toggle the switch in the upper right corner of the screen.
  2. You can upload your photos to online service from within gallery. Long-press the photo which you want to share and then use the share button to upload it on Facebook or Picasa.
  3. If there is phone number or address in the email or sms, try touching and holding the text to dial it or search the address on google maps. You can copy the required text and paste it somewher else.
  4. On the search widget, click on the microphone and speak the location for which you want to get the driving directions. Google maps will directly open and display the location routine.
  5. Long press the search button to activate the voice search. Now simply say “Call {contact name}” for voice dialing.
  6. You can lock your phone to make it more secure. Click the menu button, go to settings, and “Location and security” and set your customized security settings.
  7. In the android operating system, you can speak to your phone to write any text. Bring up the virtual keyboard and click on microphone on the left of keyboard to dictate into any text field.
  8. Click the dots on the bottom left and right of your homescreen to access all five fully customizable screens of your Nexus One. Add all the widgets, shortcuts, apps, photos, and photos you want on the extra-large customizable screen. Longpress on the dots to get a visual overview and instant access to the desired screen.
  9. You can add any application on home screen with one press. In the all-applications menu, keep pressed the icon of desired app and it will be shifted to homescreen.
  10. You can save the battery of your phone with Power widget. Add the power control widget to homescreen and then you can quickly turn on/off the intensive power using apps like WiFi, GPS, bluetooth and screen brightness.
  11. Slide the unlock bar to the left to mute your phone.
  12. You can add a contact directly to the homescreen. Longpress the homescreen and pick Shortcuts->Contact.
  13. You can add live wallpaper by touch and holding on empty space of your phone.
  14. Load up your Nexus One: To get your music and photos onto Nexus One, plug the phone into your computer, pull down the notification bar, and click “USB Connected”. Then click “Mount,” and your phone should appear on your computer as a normal external harddrive, where you can upload whatever you like.
  15. Control your music player directly from the homescreen by adding the Music widget. Cool tip: add the “Many” live wallpaper to see different music visualizers rotate in 3D while you listen to your favorite songs.
