Along with iOS 5 GM download, developers are also getting the following instructions which clearly state that iOS 5 compatible apps can now be submitted to App Store for review. Moreover iTunes 10.5 beta 7 or above must be installed on your PC to update the idevices to iOS 5 GM release.

Here are the exact release notes:

• Xcode 4.2 GM seed can now be used to submit iOS 5 applications to the App Store for review. Read the iOS 5 Readiness Checklist for instructions on how to prepare your app submission.
• You must use iTunes 10.5 beta 7 to install iOS 5 GM seed on your devices. iOS 5 GM seed is not available via over the air software update.
• Be sure to backup your devices using iTunes 10.5 beta 7 or through iCloud backup prior to installing iOS 5 GM seed. After installing iOS 5 GM seed, you can restore your device using either iTunes 10.5 beta 7 or through your iCloud backup.
• Xcode 4.2 GM seed, iOS 5 GM seed, iTunes 10.5 beta, iWork for iOS beta, and Apple TV Software beta are pre-release software and are considered Apple Confidential Information and are subject to the terms of your iOS Developer Program License Agreement. Unauthorized distribution or disclosure of Apple Confidential Information is prohibited.

If you are not a developer, just wait few more days to get the public build of iOS 5 on your device. Coming on October 12th.

Apple has already announced that it will not be streaming the event live this time. It is to be noted that iPhone 4 Media Event was streamed live for Mac Users officially. And the windows users found a nice trick to watch it on their PCs. Apart from live streaming, we will also miss one important person, Steve Jobs. After resigning from the post of CEO, the reports suggest that Tim Cook will be on the stage this time to unveil the next beast.

According to some sources, we have gathered that Apple is seeking world wide rights from all over the globe. It is getting the licenses for Cloud Music from some well known publishers and some other top class music companies. Apple is hoping to get this work completed, and get the negotiations signed, so it could announce its iCloud on the 4th of October. On the 4th, Apple is holding an event named as the “Let’s talk iPhone”. Apple has even sent out invitation for its event.

Greg Sandoval, from CNET, reports that

Apple is looking to obtain similar licenses to the ones it has obtained for iCloud, which is the company’s upcoming cloud services initiative, in the U.S. Although nothing has been decided as of yet, Apple is said to be very close to reaching deals.

Months ago, it was rumored that Apple is negotiating to get license of cloud-based streaming music for its iCloud, though this news was unconfirmed till now.

Apple is really looking to get licenses for cloud-based streaming music, and if it gets them, then the October 4th event will harbor 1 more surprise for the Apple fans. (via Modmyi)

Here are the known bug fixes:

- “Scan and match” feature is not yet complete. Some users’ tracks may not be recognized by iTunes Match even if the tracks are available in the iTunes Store, and those tracks will be uploaded to the users’ iCloud storage. Some tracks may also be mis-matched to a different version of the same song on the iTunes Store.

- Music can only be added to iCloud from one computer at a time.

- Updating an iOS device to iOS 5 beta 7 may result in music failing to play. Users should turn off iTunes Match in settings and then turn it back on to restore functionality.

As usual this beta release is available for download from Apple’s Developer Program. Only those members can download it who are registered with this program which costs $99 per year.

If you are a developer, you must get it to check the compatibility of your App before the final and public releases of iTunes 10.5 and iOS 5.

Just this previous Friday, news came that Verizon has submitted request to the United States District Court for the Northern District of California to file an amicus curiae, or “friend of the court,”, therefore giving Verizon the opportunity to intervene as a third-party in the case, and thereby help Samsung against Apple’s lawsuits. But, it looks like that Apple has more troubles to face, as the T-Mobile has also submitted a request to the court saying that such an order against Samsung would ”unnecessarily harm” T-Mobile and its customers.

The US mobile carrier further said that,

At this late date, T-Mobile could not find comparable replacement products for the 2011 holiday season. These investments cannot be recouped easily.

And as the T-Mobile marketing campaigns also include the Samsung’s Galaxy S 4G phone accompanied by the Galaxy Tab 10.1, they are right in saying that if Samsung products are banned in the US, it would greatly harm the T-Mobile company.

Though after this supportive movement of Samsung by T-Mobile, the Apple’s spokesperson Kristin Huguet simply said that

Apple needed to protect its intellectual property when companies steal its ideas.

But the main thing to be noticed is that now two of the main mobile carriers, Verizon and the T-Mobile, are supporting Samsung against Apple. Now Apple really has to be carefull in its moves. (via Huffingtonpost)

If in iOS 5 Twitter is integrated (which will be done), this will give Twitter an extra amount of traffic on its site. As with this integration, the users can directly tweet and share their pics through the iOS. And as a result, a large number of tweets would be added to Twitter’s already over 230 million tweets per day. So the micro-blogging social network has already started on preparing itself for the big launch.

Michael Abbot, an engineering VP of Twitter said that,

iOS is not something we have to brace for.

During the last nine months, there’s been more infrastructure changes at Twitter than there had been in the previous five years at the company. So that whether it be the death of bin Laden, or someone announces a pregnancy, we can handle those issues and you’re not seeing a fail whale.

I anticipate a lot of growth because [Twitter] is going to be on every iOS device. And certainly there’s a good number of those out there in the world. It’s going to result in more tweets.

So, Twitter is also anticipating the iOS 5 release, and are quite looking forward to it, as this will give Twitter an extra large amount of traffic due to almost 41% of mobile users of the US alone, planning to switch to the upcoming iPhone 5.

The invitation graphic which is being sent out includes four icons (Calendar, Clock, Maps and iPhone) as shown above. The calendar and clock icons show the date and time of the event but what is meant by other icons is still hidden. The iPhone icons showing “1″ missed call might also indicate that only one iPhone (iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S) will be announced at the event, but it is still a speculation.

There has been a strong rumor, or well a confirmed report that Apple is holding a media event on October 4th to unveil the iPhone 5, and to release iOS 5. Usually Apple releases the major iOS version prior to launching a new iPhone model. So, it looks like that we would have the iOS 5 in our hands by 10th or 11th October . Twitter is trying to get involved in the iOS as it has announced two developer conference to discuss Twitter integration in the iOS.

The first conference is to be held on the 10th of October, while the second on the 12th. Apple has even told its AppleCare division to expect a high influx of iOS 5-related questions on October 10th.

There’s a lot going on in the ecosystem and we’d like to take this chance to share the highlights with you – including the latest developments with the platform, areas of opportunity that we’re seeing, and a heavy focus on the iOS 5 Twitter integration for developers.

So this confirms that the iOS 5 will be available for public by the 10th as it is most unlikely for Twitter to hold a media event for iOS 5 before the release of the software.

A demo of Twitter integration into iOS 5 was presented months ago to developers. This function will basically allow an iOS user to tweet directly from some certain apps, or share things on twitter directly through the iOS.

It looks like that the iOS 5 has many things for us in the bag which will only be finally disclosed to us after the public release. So just hang on for a while, and see what happens.

Verizon, the largest wireless operator has submitted a request to the United States District Court for the Northern District of California to file an amicus curiae, or “friend of the court,” brief in support of Samsung, Florian Mueller of FOSS Patents reports. So now this brief would give Verizon the opportunity to intervene as a third party in the case, and thereby help Samsung against Apple’s lawsuits.

The carrier argues that such an injunction “would hinder Verizon Wireless in developing and deploying its next generation high-speed LTE [fourth-generation] network, the job growth dependant on that network, and will undercut key public policy goals, including expansion of American’s [sic] access to broadband networks and faster communication with emergency personnel.”

This would give Samsung an overwhelming support against the tech giant, Apple as Verizon is currently holding the largest market shares in the mobile telecommunication industry and even holds 23.9% of US iPhones, so it could make troubles for Apple.

Now, lets see what Apple does in response to this Verizon-Samsung defense plan. Although, it could damage market shares of Apple a little, but judging  Apple, it does not has much to care about. (via AppleInsider)

This report was first released by Nu.nl, which said that Samsung claims a ban on Apple’s all 3G products such as iPad, and iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. As all iPhones (except for the original) released to date make use of 3G technology, this ban would hold not only for the iPhone 3G and iPhone 4, but also for the upcoming iPhone 5, so Apple is really in trouble.

The Dutch site, Nu.nl said that

Samsung requires an import, trading and sales ban for all iPhones and iPads that use 3G technology. Samsung claims that prohibition not only for Apple, but also five private companies that distribute and sell the products.

Monday addresses the court at the request of Apple, based on whether patents are very general ban can be enforced.

Samsung claims that all the 3G products of Apple infringe its patents and it wants to pull them off the shelves in Netherland. Samsung said that Apple was “freeriding” with regards to the Samsung patents, so Samsung is likely to get a good advantage if iPhones and iPads are banned in the Netherlands.

Apple’s lawyers responded to this move by setting up a hearing to discuss the licensing issues with Samsung. Apple will have to pay the license fees if it wants to continue selling its products in the Netherlands. And if it doesn’t then, Samsung can even proceed to banning Apple’s 3G products in Netherland.
