Redsn0w 0.9 is graduated from beta and now you can jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 firmware. RedsnOw is an alternative to jailbreak the iPhone. Other tools like blackra1n, PwnageTool and sn0wbreeze are also available and you can try this one if those don’t work for you.

In this release support for 3rd-generation iPod touch and IPCC tethering has been added.

How to Jailbreak iPhone using RedsnOw:

First of all update your iPhone version to latest one using iTunes.
Install the RedsnOw on your computer and launch it.
Open the Redsnow and browse to the 3.1.2 .ipsw file. (links below)
Redsnow will check the integrity of the file and apply the patch automatically.

iPhone 2G users can select both “Install Cydia” and “Unlock” options. iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPod touch users should only check on “Install Cydia” to jailbreak.

Now make sure your device is both OFF and PLUGGED IN to the computer before you click “Next”.

At this stage you will be presented with a screen where you will have to quickly hold “Power” button and then while holding the “Power” button, you will now have to hold “Home” button too. Now after few seconds release “Power” button but keep holding “Home” button until installation begins.

Now sit back and let Redsnow to work. Your device will restart automatically with jailbroken iPhone 3.1.2.

Every tech person is very curious about Apple’s event “Come See our Latest Creation” which is set for next Wednesday, January 27 in San Francisco. The most expected announcement in this event will be “Apple Tablet”. PCworld.com has published a crowdsourced guide for this event. According to the guide, Apple will come up with the following products in the event.

Apple Tablet:

Many names have been given to this gadget like iTablet, iSlate, iPad but this one will almost definitely be unveiled. Even the features and specifications of this tablet have been leaked out. It will have ebook reader, newspaper reader, audio-video editing tools and so on.

George Hotz has finally released his software blackra1n to jailbreak your iPhone and iPod 3.1.2 firmwares. According to George Hotz: “So, what is blackra1n? blackra1n is a 30 second ALL device 3.1.2 jailbreak. Even the ipt3, but the ipt3 is tethered. In order to boot it, just rerun blackra1n. As far as donations go, they are much appreciated, but not until after blackra1n works for you. I never ask for donations before the tool is released.”

—If you have successfully put your phone into DFU, you will be allowed to continue. Otherwise you will have to repeat the whole process.

How to Downgrade iPhone 3.1 to 3.0.1

We have already warned that new iPhone Software 3.1 is not yet jailbreakable or hackable. The dev-team has suggested that we should wait for 1-2 weeks so that they upgrade their tools to jailbreak and unlock new iPhone software 3.1.

However if you have upgraded your iphone to latest software, here is step by step tutorial to downgrade iPhone software from 3.1 to 3.0.1.

Step 1:

Download and install the latest version of iTunes 9.

Step 2:

Download iPhone Software 3.0.1 for your relevant iPhone ( iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G , iPhone 2G ). These softwares will be in .ipsw format.

Step 3:

Now copy the downloaded .ipsw files in the following locations of your system.

Mac OS X: “~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates”
Windows 7: “\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates”
Windows Vista: “\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates”
Windows XP: “\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates”

Step 4:

Connect your iPhone with your PC and start the iTunes 9, and keep pressed Shift key and click on restore.

Select the firmware 3.0.1 you just downloaded for your iPhone. You may receive errors like:

The iPhone “your iPhone” could not be restored. An unknown error occurred. (1015)

Ignore these types of errors, continue the procedure and close iTunes. Your phone will now be in recovery mode, showing iTunes logo and usb connector.

Step 5:

Start QuickPwn 2.2-1 and follow the on-screen procedure to reset your iPhone. Close QuickPwn and start iTunes again with original AT&T sim card and check the new firmware version. I hope it will have been changed to 3.0.1. Now you can also jailbreak your iPhone.
