What a big day! The wait is over now. The Chronic Dev Team has finally provided us all the information about GreenpoisOn i.e., its release date, it will be tethered or untethered, and what devices will be supported. GreenpoisOn is a SHAtter Exploit based jailbreak that is tethered but Comex (iPhone Dev Team Member) made it untethered on iOS 4.1 and iPad 3.2.2. Read the full details after this break.
If you are an iPhone user and using an unofficial carrier, you will be well aware of what is Baseband Preservation and what we can get if it is done. The working of Ultrasnow, a popular unlocking tool which frees your iPhone, iPod from any carrier, depends on baseband. If the baseband is changed after updating the idevice to latest iOS, your phone will be no more unlocked until or unless new (version) of Ultrasnow is used to re-unlock it.
SHAtter exploit is rocking. iPhone Dev Team has confirmed that SHAtter exploit can be used to cook a custom firmware for new Apple TVs. SHAtter is the same exploit which is being used to develop the new jailbreak tool (the name might be GreenPoison) for iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G and other idevices.
Finally we are near to get the jailbreak tool for iPod Touch 4G and other iDevices on iOS 4.1. If you remember, we shared a post about SHAttered exploit which was discovered by pod2g and told you that this exploit will be used in the upcoming iOS 4.1 jailbreak on iDevices inluding iPod Touch 4G.
Snowbreeze 2.0 will be released on Wednesday to jailbreak iOS 4.1 for certain idevices including iPhone 3GS (New Bootrom), the sources said. If you remember, in July we shared two tweets of iH8sn0w, the developer of Sn0wbreeze, about Snowbreeze 2.0 which was never released, but now the same version will be released with iOS 4.1 support.
If you are not following the updates about iOS 4.1 jailbreak from last few days, read our first post about Greenpoison here and head over to this post for latest update on Greenpoison. As we told you in previous post, greenpoison is only a name like Redsnow, snowbreeze etc given to a jailbreak software/tool/program. The exploit that will be used, most probably, to develop Greepoison for iOS 4.1 is SHAtter made by pod2g.
A new jailbreak for iOS 4.1 and hopefully for iOS 4.2 too is coming soon, but if you have updated your iPhone/iPod/iPad to iOS 4.2 which is not jailbreakable yet, here is simple guide to downgrade iOS 4.2 to previous version. Moreover, iOS 4.2 also contains new baseband which makes it impossible to unlock using existing UltraSnow version.
It is being expected that tomorrow Apple will reveal the details, release date and shipment date of new iPod Touch 4/4G . But interestingly a jailbroken iPod Touch 4 is already available on eBay. This also indicates that the new version of iPod will be running on iOS 4.0.1, which is jailbreakable version, instead of iOS 4.0.2.
