How to Stop Windows from Rebooting after Automatic Updates
Most users don’t know that windows automatically restarts (reboots) after it finishes the installation of automatic updates and you may lose all your work because all process is being done in the background, i.e., downloading of updates, installing them and rebooting the PC. This feature is set ON by default in windows but you can easily change it so that your windows does not restarts automatically or even you can turn off the automatic updates.
Step 1:
In windows vista, click start, type Windows Update and hit Enter. In windows XP, go to control panel and open the windows Updates.
Step 2:
In windows vista, click on change settings option at left and in the case of windows XP you don’t need to click on further option.
Step 3:
Select the option “Download updates but let me choose when to install them.”
Step 4:
Click Ok and all is done. Now your PC won’t reboot automatically. First you will allow to install updates and then it will reboot.
