What is Next to Froyo? Android 2.3 (or 3.0) might be Released by Fall of 2010

Last week Google revealed its latest version of Android operating system. Android 2.2 is already being rolled out for Google Nexus and there is news that Droid users will get the update in near future.

Google announced even more features in adnroid 2.2 the users were  expecting like tethering and wireless syncing.

But when the next updates will be released and what will we get?

Michael Leahy on Google Knol concludes that Android 2.3 is coming in the fourth quarter of this year. Two features which are highly expected in this version are:

  • Possible inclusion of JIT from OHA partner.
  • Probable inclusion of webkit2.

A Leaked Roadmap of Android:

Giz au has published a leaked (a little funny though) roadmap of android with the features expected in upcoming firmware versions.

Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
Release Date: Fall 2011

-Full UI refresh
-Bluetooth voice commands
-Broader video codec support

Android 2.4 (Häagen-Dazs)
Release Date: Summer 2012
Features:
-Auto-tuned voice calls
-Built-in Twitter client
-Fart ringtones standard
-Runs iPhone apps

Android 2.5 (Ice Cream)
Release Date: Winter 2013
Features:
-Automatic privacy screen when browsing pornography
-Valid form of ID in continental US and parts of EU
-Calls your mother on her birthday
-Native CueCat support

Android 2.6 (Jellybean)
Release Date: Spring 2014
Features:
-Emits powerful Nordic pheromones
-Automatically screens calls based on other party’s attractiveness
-Vibration mode causes spontaneous conception
-Phone numbers replaced by targeted ads

Android 2.7 (Krispy Kreme)
Release Date: Summer/Fall 2015
Features:
-Charges via self-righteousness from not owning an iPhone
-Built-in speaker automatically plays Sade when in vicinity of love-making
-Transforms into an actual android
-Divides by zero

Android 3.0 (Lollipops)
Release Date: Spring/Summer 2016
Feature:

Update 1: Android 2.3 is also being named as Android 3.0. Lets see what will be the exact version and when it will be announced officially.
