Finally the wait is over now. Absinthe 2.0 is now available for download. It provides untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, all iPad version, iPod Touch models and iPhone 3GS running on iOS 5.1.1. It can also jailbreak Apple TV 2G, but it doesn’t support Apple TV 3G right now. [Please read the updates below]
Absinthe v2.0 jailbreak tool is very simple. It only jailbreaks the device. Besides jailbreaking the device, it doesn’t have any other feature. All you’ll have to do is to download it, unzip and click on “Jailbreak” button. If you rely on unlock, don’t use this tool. Instead, wait for Redsn0w release which will allow you to cook the custom iOS 5.1.1 firmware while preserving the baseband.
Here is how you can use the Absinthe for iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak.
Step 1: First of all back up your device with iTunes.
Step 2: Update the device to iOS 5.1.1.
Step 3: Download absinthe and unzip.
Step 4: Run the tool and click on “Jailbreak” button.
Step 5: Let Absinthe perform the rest of jailbreak process.
Step 6: Wait until iPhone reboots.
Now you have an icon on your homescreen. Launch it and install the Cydia.
That’s all.
