Though every android lover is waiting for android 2.3 which is still under developement, but a minor update “Android 2.2.1” is being rolled out for Google Nexus One and soon it will be available for all regions via OTA method (over the air).
In case you don’t want to wait for official OTA update, you can follow the instructions posted after the break to update your phone to Android 2.2.1 manually.
How to Install Android 2.2.1 Manually:
Step 1: Download the official android 2.2.1 (FRG83).
Step 2: Rename the downloaded folder to update.zip. Makre sure that there is no extra .zip extension at the end of file name. (update.zip – right, update.zip.zip – wrong).
Step 3: Move the update.zip file to your Nexus One’s microSD card.
Step 4: Turn Off your phone.
Step 5: Now while holding the Volume Down button, turn on your android phone.
Step 6: From the screen that pop ups, scroll down to recovery and press on “Power” button.
Wait for the triangle with an exclamation symbol to appear. Once the symbol shows up, press the Power and Volume Up button at the same time.
Step 7: Select Apply sdcard:update.zip option from the menu.
Step 8: Let the restoration process complete and then reboot your Google Nexus One with Android 2.2.1.
