For long, AT&T iPhone users have been envious of the fact that Verizon CDMA iPhone users have access to LTE technology, which means faster data speeds on the iPhone. Who wouldn’t want that? In a bid to not get left behind, AT&T has announced that it will debut its LTE technology in five cities in the US by Summer 2011.
AT&T’s LTE network will be debuting in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio this summer. The carrier hopes to expand to 10 more destinations by the end of 2011. It is finally good to see that the first official carrier of the iPhone is taking a step which is bound to make many iPhone owners, happy.
AT&T shall go head to head against Verizon’s LTE network, which shall be operating across 76 destinations by June 2011. Verizon Wireless only recently got the iPhone 4 on its CDMA network.
AT&T users have for long complained about AT&T’s unreliable network. The ever so constrained data caps have made iPhone owners angrier, because we all know that the iPhone is an app junkie / data hogging device. Jumping iPhone users to their LTE network could help eradicate the negative sentiment. Only time will tell how it really turns out to be for AT&T.
