Today iPhone Dev Team released Redsn0w 0.9.6 b4 to jailbreak iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPad, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G and iPod Touch 2G on iOS 4.2.1 final and public version.
p0sixninja, an important figure behind Greenpois0n posted on his twitter account that Greenpois0n to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 is coming within next few days. Greenpois0n is based on Geohot’s limera1n exploit, an hardware-level exploit, and Apple can’t patch it up until new iPhones and iPads are released with improved hardware.
It is a new and modded PwnageTool that jailbreaks iPad and brings Cydia back to life on iOS 4.2.1. However there is one disadvantage with this tool (with all jailbreak tools for iOS 4.2.1 till iPhone Dev Teams comes up with a new solution) that it provides tethered jailbreak which means you’ll have to connect to PC every time to put the iPad into jailbreaked state.
Earler we reported that Redsnow 0.9.6 b3 is coming soon and finally it has been released. This latest version allows users to install their own custom bundles like OpenSSH, OpenSSL and basic APT installer programs.

iPhone Dev Team members, esp Jay Freeman and Chpwn, are working hard to bring out the final version of Cydia Store that will support iOS 4.2 too. According to a tweet by MuscleNerd, the revamped Cydia app is almost ready.
