Ultran0w fixer has been updated to support iOS 6.0.1 unlock. After upgrading to custom iOS 6.0.1 firmware on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, the user can unlock iOS 6.0.1 with this Ultrasnow fixer. Before following this unlock guide, make it sure the custom iOS 6.0.1 has preserved baseband otherwise you can lose the unlock.
As we have untethered iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak now, we can safely upgrade our iPhone 4 GSM and iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.1.1 and then unlock it using this method. This guide requires two tools, one is called Sn0wbreeze and another is Ultrasn0w. However, ultrasn0w is not updated yet to support iOS 5.1.1. For this purpose we will use an Ultrasn0w fixer.
Many users have already unlocked their iPhone devices while using the trick found in SAM (subscriber artificial module). Sam Bingner, the developer behind SAM unlock tool, has released a new version which shortens the whole unlock process. This version doesn’t add any new feature or any special support for those users who are not getting the unlock; in fact, new version of SAM removes some activation issues and makes the iPhone iOS 5.1 / 5.0.1 / 5.0 unlock process simpler and easier.
Yesterday Loktar Sun found a trick, while experimenting with SAM (subscriber artificial module), which allowed him to unlock iPhone running on iOS 5+. You can also backup the activation tickets of unlocked iPhone for future use. These activation tickets will be required to re-unlock your device after you restore a fresh iOS firmware on your device.
Kudos to hackers and researchers! They have found a new method to unlock any iPhone, whether it is iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, or iPhone 3GS, running on iOS 5.0, iOS 5.0.1 or iOS 5.1, even having the baseband 0.4.11.08. This new method involves the use of SAM which is exclusively available through Cydia Store. So, this technique will work only on JAILBROKEN iPhone.
One of iPhone Dev Team posted a new article on their blog suggesting the current jailbreakers not to update the iOS 5 devices to today’s anticipated iOS 5.1. The team member wrote in the post that the jailbreakers might lose the jailbreak ability once they updated their modern idevices esp iPhone 4S and iPad 2 to iOS 5.1.
Ultrasn0w 1.2.3, along with Pwnagetool 4.3.3 and Redsn0w 0.9.6rc15, is available from now to unlock iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS running on custom iOS 4.3.3. Ultrasn0w 1.2.3 does not support any new baseband but it provides solution to all those users who are still on unlockable baseband to update their devices to iOS 4.3.3 in which many bugs, esp location tracking issue, are fixed.
In addition to PwnageTool 4.3.2, today iPhone Dev Team also released Ultrasnow 1.2.2. Ultrasnow 1.2.2 can unlock up to iOS 4.3.2 provided you are already on unlockable baseband. If you are still running any older iOS version, you can now safely update your device to iOS 4.3.2 while preserving the baseband and unlock it using Ultrasn0w 1.2.2.
Last week we reported that many websites were offering IMEI based iPhone unlocking service. They did so by entering the IMEI number of locked iPhone into the “whitelist” of Apple’s database. Though it is still unclear what route they adopted but it is sure they had access to that particular database.
