If you are following the updates, you may know that Microsoft has announced Windows Phone 8 officially with the codename “Apollo“. Unfortunately this new version will not support the existing devices. To bring the new features of Windows Phone 8 to the current Windows Phone 7.5 devices, Microsoft will be rolling out an update Windows Phone 7.8 soon. This step will really make the Lumia users happy to some extend.
Earlier this week Microsoft released Windows Phone 7 Mango Beta 2 update for developers, meaning only those users who are registered with Dev Devices Program on Microsoft Connect can update their devices to this release. But thanks to hacking community which has found a workaround to install this Mango Beta 2 on WP 7 devices without needing any Develop Account.
Yesterday Microsoft rolled out a small update to Windows Phone 7 devices. The main purpose of this update was to make the ground for first major WP7 OS (firmware) update, codenamed “NoDo” which is to be released in early March.
However after applying the update many users, esp those having Samsung WP7 phones, reported that their devices had gone into unusable state.
If you are following the rumors over the past week, this shouldn’t be a surprise for you. Today Microsoft and Nokia have announced plans for broad strategic partnership to combine the respective strengths and to build a new global ecosystem.

Automattic has gone ahead and released a full-fledged WordPress client for Windows Phone 7 mobiles, all for free of course.
Chrome to WP 7 is a new app for Windows Phone 7 handsets which works just like Chrome to Phone app for android. After installing the chrome extension in the desktop Chrome browser and Chrome to WP7 in the Windows Phone 7 mobile, WP7 users can send the links and other selected text from Google Chrome to their phone.
Chrome to WP7 is a free app available in the marketplace.
ChevronWP 7 Unlock aka Jailbreak tool for Windows Phone 7 has been removed after Microsoft reached out to the developers of this tool.
Brandon Watson, Director of Developer Experience for Windows Phone 7, contacted the ChevronWP7 team to establish a mutual understanding focusing on the team’s efforts to enable homebrew possibilities and broaden the development of Windows Phone 7 apps and tools.
