How to Delete iCloud Account Without Entering Password Before Selling iPhone

delete icloud

With the release of new iOS 7, Apple also added few more security steps for iPhone and iPad owners. Now when the Find my iPhone feature is turned on, you can neither restore to new and fresh iOS and nor delete the iCloud account without first disabling the Find My iPhone feature. But there is a new bug in iOS 7 – up to iOS 7.0.4 – which allows any user to not only turn off the Find my iPhone but also delete the existing iCloud and add any new account.

Update 1X: Now you can delete your existing iCloud from iPhone 6S, 6, 5S, 5, 4S, iPad models and iPod Touch running iOS 9 and iOS 8.

Update: Apple had fixed this bug in the recent iOS 7.1 update. But there is a new bug even in the latest release which also allows the users to delete iCloud account without knowing the password. Read the details at the bottom of this post.

These days many mobile shop-keepers first check whether iCloud is active or not. If there is any account attached with device, they ask the seller to remove it first and then purchase it. If you want to sell your iPhone / iPad but you have forgotten the password or you don’t know the password, you can remove iCloud account by using this hack and then sell it.

This hack doesn’t require any software or special program. You have to perform few taps on your device and all is done. In fact, it is a bug in the current iOS version. Fortunately, this bug has been fixed in the upcoming iOS 7.1 version.

Here is the step by step method to completely remove iCloud account without password:

Step 1: First of all open settings app and go to iCloud.

Step 2: Tap on iCloud account.

Step 3: Delete the existing password and enter any password (any random number).

Step 4: Tap on Done.

Step 5: After verification, iCloud will tell you that either username or password is incorrect.

Step 6: Click OK and then Cancel. You will be on the iCloud main page again.

Step 7: Now again tap on Account and this time remove the description. Tap on Done.

Step 8: It will go back on the main iCloud page without asking any password this time. Now you’ll see that Find My iPhone feature has been turned off automatically.

Step 9: Scroll down and tap on Delete account. A pop-up will open confirming you that if you delete your account, all documents and Photo Stream photos stored in iCloud will be deleted from this iPhone. Tap on Delete again.

Step 10: This time a new pop-out will show asking you whether you want to keep the data on iPhone or delete it from iPhone. Select one according to your choice.

That’s all. Now you have successfully removed iCloud account on your iPhone / iPad without knowing and entering the password.

Here is the video demonstration of this method by Bradley Williams who actually discovered this bug in iOS 7.0.4.

Note: Please use this method to deactivate the account on only your iPhone. This guide is not intended to promote any illegal activity. The main purpose of this guide is to inform you that your device is at risk and you should set a passcode now if you don’t want to give access to any unauthorized person to change the Find My iPhone toggle. Moreover, you should update to iOS 7.1 as soon as it is out to get rid of this bug.

Update 1:

The recently discovered bug in iOS 7.1 also allows the users to bypass iCloud password request. In this method, you have to toggle the “Find My iPhone” off and tap on “Delete iCloud Account” at the same time. This is a little tricky part of this hack. After the successful simultaneously opertation, you’ll be promted to enter the iCloud password. Don’t add any password. Instead of that press the Power button and shut down your device. After the device reboots, the iCloud account details are vanished and now you can enter your own details. After that the iPhone won’t be visible on the map.

If you want to make your device more secure, make it sure you have set the passcode so that the intruder doesn’t have the access to settings app. It is also to be noted that this hack doesn’t allows the users to activate iPhone.

    1. If “Find My iPhone” is turned off, you can simply restore to the latest version, but you’d lose all your data. No other solution, I think.

There is a way through which you can delete icloud email account.

    1. Open Safari Browser in iphone and go to
    2. Enter icloud email account which you want to delete.
    3. Select authentication method > email Authentication
    4. A link will be sent to your email.
    5. Open your Iphone settings > iCloud > Mail (Please confirm that mail option is on. If it is not then please click on it. It will not require any password.)
    6. Now come back to main menu and Open Mail. Open All Mail Boxes and select iCloud email. Refresh mail. In mail you’ll receive an email to reset your password.
    7. Click on the link given in the email. It will open safari browser and go to a page where you’ll be ask to enter new password.
    8. Enter your new password and save it.
    9. Now go back to settings > iCloud> Delete Account >Enter New Password.
    10. It will delete this account.

This way is only applicable when your iCloud account is configured in mail.

    1. pls answer my comment cause im really want to update my iphone to the latest Os version.. im afraid after the update it might the previous icloud account appears again.. thanks

      1. You are thinking right. You’ll get the previous icloud account after the update. So, don’t upgrade. Use it as it is and never reset it or upgrade.
