Google Latitude just hits the App Store and is now available for download. It is compatible with all those idevices which support multitasking i.e., iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G and iPad running on iOS 4.0 or above.
Though Google Latitude is already available, as far as I know, as a feature of Google Maps in other mobiles like Symbian based phones, but for idevices it is released as a stand-alone app.
The most interesting feature of Google Latitude for iPhone is that it can share you location in the background, even when the app is closed or screen is locked.
The important features of Google latitude are:
- See your friends on a map – find out who’s nearby and meet up.
- Share your location continuously with whomever you choose – help friends and family stay in touch with you, even when you can’t take out your phone.
- Control your privacy – share only city-level location, hide your location, or turn off background updating at any time

Google Latitude is being rolled out right now and it will be available in the App Store of your region. It will be available in 15 languages and in over 45 countries.
However if you don’t see it right now, make a new account after the selecting the US as your new location and download it.
