FAQ About Jailbreaking:

What this jailbreaking thing is?

In lexicographic world, iPhone jailbreaking means breaking the iPhone out of its “jail”

Practically, jailbreaking is the process, which is performed by a software (mostly), to remove the restrictions imposed by Apple on iPhone’s operating system, that is iOS.

What is the core benefit of jailbreaking?

The main purpose is to get the root access to the iOS file system so that we can run on the device whatever we want.

What can I do with my jailbroken iPhone?

Literally, the possibilities are endless. Generally speaking, you can install third-party software. You can install some codes called Tweaks which let you customize those areas of iOS which can not be modified using the official apps downloaded from the App Store.

You can install applications, games, tweaks, themes and other third-party apps.

What is the best source of all these third-party apps?

The best place for third-party apps is Cydia. This place is full of everything you want to get.

Can I get Paid App Store apps from Cydia free of cost?

The main purpose of jailbreaking is not to pirate the things and even Cydia Store doesn’t allow anyone to distribute such things.

However, there are many means and repos you can use on your iPhone and get the paid Cydia apps free of cost.

We, at Shoutpedia, neither recommend nor encourage for such activities.

Can I jailbreak my iPhone anytime?

You may and may not. It all depends on the iOS version installed on your device.

Is iOS jailbreak a free or a paid service??

So far every jailbreak is released free of cost. You shouldn’t pay anyone to get this done on iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

Some developers, however, ask for donations. It is all up to you whether you want to donate or not.

Do all the jailbreak tools work in the same manner?

No, it depends on the tool. Different tools use different types of methods. Some of them provide untethered jailbreak, some tethered and some semi-tethered.

However, nowadays most of the tools provide untethered jailbreak.

Is jailbreaking legal?

Yes, this process is completely legal in the US.

In 2010 and 2012, the U.S. Copyright Office approved exemptions that allowed smartphone users to jailbreak their devices legally, and in 2015 the Copyright Office approved an expanded exemption that also covers other all-purpose mobile computing devices, such as tablets, for the next three years.

For other countries, please consult the respective authorities for the details.
