GitHub App for Mac Available for Download

GitHub has just released its very own app for Mac users. GitHub is very popular among developers who work on a project and want to keep track of the changes to a repository. With this app you can add repository, push you work on GitHub servers or pull it on your local machine. You can also sync your branches with the remote repository.

The custom UI of the app provides a nice and slick look without many OS X’s native elements. The initial step up of the app lets you set up and find your repositories already on your machine.

There are other visual Git clients for Mac like GittiGitX and SmartGit but GitHub for Mac definitely looks the most polished. It will be interesting to see if it is widely adopted enough to affect the use of those other clients, some of which are ‘for pay’ options. If you’ve tried out the other clients, how do you think that it compares?
