In the latest version of iOS, the forwarding of SMS, text messages, and iMessage is somewhere hidden deep in the app functions. Now you’ll have to perform some extra taps to find the exact forward button on iPhone.
Update: The latest version of iOS gives us an option to turn off the notifications of any contact while leaving the others to default settings.
After every big release of iOS, Apple also makes changes to the native apps. The same is the case with the messages app. In the initial releases of iOS, the forward button was located at a single tap. But in the recent updates like iOS 11 and iOS 12, it is available deep in the app functions.
How to Forward SMS from Your iPhone to any other Phone contact
Below are the simple steps you can follow to know how to send SMS / messages from your iPhone to any other contact, irrespective of what phone model he is currently using.
Step 1: Fire up the messages app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Open the conversation thread which contains the message you want to forward to another party.
Step 3: Go to the specific SMS.
Step 4: Tap and hold that specific message for 1-2 seconds until you see new options pop up.
Step 5: Tap on “More” as shown in the screenshot below.
Step 6: The selected SMS will get a blue tick mark and you will see a forward arrow in the right corner of the messages app.
Step 7: Tap the forward arrow and the selected message will transfer to the “New Message” screen.
Step 8: In the “To:” section, tap the “circled plus sign” and select the contact you want to forward the SMS. You can manually enter the phone number of the recipient at this stage.
Step 9: Tap the arrow up button in the message body section to send the SMS from your iPhone to that contact.
How to Send Multiple SMS from iPhone to any other Number
By following the above-mentioned steps, you can also forward multiple messages to another phone number.
You have to perform an extra step after step number 6. When the selected message gets the blue tick mark, select as many messages you want to send from your iPhone.
It is, however, to be noted you can select the messages only from the current conversation thread. You can’t go back and choose new messages from any other sender.
After selecting all the messages from the same thread, just follow the rest of the procedure to complete the process.
How to Forward SMS to Multiple Recipients
You can also forward the selected message(s) to the multiple recipients at the same time.
When you reach at step 8, tap the circled plus button again after selecting the first contact number and you can enter a new contact to the recipient list. Repeating the same step, you can forward the same SMS to the multiple recipients.
There is another way of sending the SMS to another number without using this forward feature of iPhone. In this case, you tap and hold on the message but instead of tapping on “More”, select the “copy” option. The selected message will be copied into the clipboard.
Now open the New Message, or open the recipient’s conversation thread and paste the contents of the SMS into the message writing area.
