Jailbreak iOS 6.0.1 on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch Using Redsnow [Guide]

jailbreak iOS 6.0.1

Apple has released iOS 6.0.1 for all supported models. However, iOS 6.0.1 jailbreak for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch is not yet compatible with all models. In fact the devices which are now supported for jailbreak are older devices and even on them the jailbreak is still tethered. It means that tethered jailbreak for iOS 6.0.1 is possible on these devices:

  • iPhone 3GS
  • iPhone 4
  • iPod 4G

The devices for which there is no iOS 6.0.1 jailbreak available yet include:

  • iPhone 5
  • iPhone 4S
  • iPad 2
  • iPad 3
jailbreak iOS 6.0.1

So, if you own one of the compatible device, follow the steps mentioned below to jailbreak iOS 6.0.1. Please read the note at the bottom of this post first.

Step 1: First of all download iOS 6.0 for your device.

Step 2: Back up your device with iTunes and update it to the latest iOS 6.0.1.

Step 3: Download the latest redsn0w 0.9.15 b3 version.

Step 4: Launch Redsn0w.

Step 5: Go to Extras -> Select IPSW and point Reds0w to the downloaded iOS 6.

Step 6: Now go back and click on “Jailbreak”.

Step :7 At this stage, Redsn0w will ask you to put your device into DFU mode. Follow the on-screen instructions to get the successful DFU mode.

Step 8: Now the jailbreak tool will prepare the data for your device.

Step 9: Now select “Install Cydia” option.

Step 10: After Cydia installation is completed, select “Autoboot this device when it in connects DFU mode”.

Now when the device reboots, you will see Cydia icon on the homescreen of your device. Now iOS 6.0.1 jailbreak is completed.

As we have told you this jailbreak is tethered for now, so you have to boot it using redsnow for successful reboot in jailbreak form. For this purpose, connect your device with PC after every restart. Launch Cydia, select IPSW as you did in above step and then click on “Just Boot” option. Now follow the steps to get DFU mode. Soon your device will restart with tethered jailbreak.

There is no untethered iOS 6.0.1 jailbreak right now for any device. Only tethered jailbreak for iOS 6.0.1 on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3G/4G is available.

Note: Those users who use Ultrasn0w to unlock their device should never try this guide. They should wait for proper guide. Gevey SIM users should also keep their devices from such experiments.

    Nice Tutorial!

I was getting the same key.plist error

and after jailbreak my phone just rebooted with no cydia.

U need to make this step with bigger letters i think… lol

Step 10: After Cydia installation is completed, select “Autoboot this device when it in connects DFU mode”

After this it worked and it booted with cydia

So make sure u check autoboot this device when it connects to dfu mode!
