Kevin Rose, the founder of popular link sharing site Digg has posted on his blog that Apple is going to announce the much awaited iPad 2 within next 3-4 weeks.
The iPad 2 display has a “higher dpi” (more dots per inches) instead of retina display, another source of Kevin Rose claims.

I have it on good authority that Apple will be announcing the iPad 2 in the next “3-4 weeks”, possibly Tuesday February 1st. The iPad 2 will feature a retina display and front/back cameras.
If you’re thinking of buying an iPad, hold off for now.
Kevin
UPDATE: Spoke w/another source, the display has a “higher dpi”, but not technically a retina display. This seems odd to me, we’ll have to wait and see..
According to another report posted on BGR, Apple has blacked out employee vacations requests between February 3rd and February 6th.
So if we correlate that report with the news shared by Kevin Rose, it seems that Apple may introduce iPad 2 on February 1st and the pre-orders for the device may start from February 3rd.

Okay, so you guys correctly predicted the Feb 3 release of the Verizon iPhone (https://www.shoutpedia.com/verizon-iphone-launch-date-7558/). I got an e-mail invite from Verizon yesterday to pre-order on Feb 3 since I’m already a customer. Thing is, you identified the same vacation blackout dates in this article that you used to predict the iPhone release. So how can you say that means the iPad is going to be announced? Maybe those dates are for the iPhone. I know this article was published on Jan 8, the day after the iPhone article, so maybe you know what you’re talking about, but one can’t help wonder if it’s all about the iPhone.
Wow, it’s amazing because I am waiting for iPad 2 since I heard that Apple will release iPad 2.Can not wait to get my hands on that device.
