New Twitter Rollout Complete, Old Twitter Laid To Rest

Twitter, the popular micro blogging platform, has come a long way from its humble beginnings and is now a force to be reckoned within the social media landscape. Initial skeptics of twitter who were skeptical of the unorthodox nature of the way information is shared on twitter are now some of its strongest supporters as a top tier social media platform. Thanks in part to its valuation in the billions.

Twitter’s simpler interface from the early days, commonly known as the Old Twitter, has been on its deathbed for over a year, and now has been officially laid to rest to make way for the newer, more feature rich interface. Although the new version has been around for a long time, folks at twitter were still hanging on to the old interface and users had the choice to opt for the older simpler version in case they found the New Twitter a little overwhelming. A company tweet said:

New Twitter rollout: complete! All users now have the same Twitter.com experience & can access our latest features.

Ironically its 160 character only limitation is one of its strongest qualities, as it gives users a quick fire way to tap into the information stream generated by their colleagues, friends, shared interests, organizations and whatnot. Twitter applications are commonplace on mobile devices such as Apple iPhones and iPads and Android phones and tablets. The fact that Apple has deep Twitter integration in their upcoming iOS 5 speaks volumes of its significance.
