If you have jailbroken your iOS 10 device recently but now want to remove Yalu app and Cydia completely and safely, here are the instructions.

The Yalu jailbreak is still in beta stage. Though it is very stable and a lot of people are already using it but even then it contains a number of issues.

For some users, a particular tweak is yet not updated to support iOS 10, and for others, the semi-tethered nature of the application is yet not acceptable.

If Yalu or any Cydia tweak is creating issues on your iPhone, iPad or iPod device, then you don’t need to worry because you can erase your device without upgrading the firmware to the latest one.

There are two methods to remove Yalu app and Cydia associated files.

In the first method, we don’t need to erase everything present on our device. In fact, we will have to delete only the Yalu jailbreak and hide the Cydia icon in a folder.

  • Restart your device so that the jailbreak is disabled. As we know it is a semi-tethered in nature, so every time we restart our device we have to manually apply the Yalu again.
  • After the restart, simply delete Yalu app as you do any other game or app downloaded from the Apple’s store.
  • Make it sure that the trusted profile from Settings > General > Device Management is also deleted.
  • Restart your device and now place the Cydia icon in a folder and forget it.

This method, however, doesn’t erase the every piece of the jailbreak. In order to get rid of every byte of third-party software, you’ll have to either restore the fresh stock iOS firmware on your device or erase everything on the already installed firmware.

If you restore the fresh firmware using the iTunes method, you won’t be able to re-jailbreak your phone until the developer releases the updated version of Yalu.

The safest and the simplest method of removing Yalu is to erase your device without restoring it.

There are two methods to erase all the content present on your device. In the first method you fire up Settings app, go to General and scroll down to the RESET option. Now tap on Erase All Content and Settings to get rid of everything on your device. According to many users, Cydia was still there on the springboard after using the method.

The second method which even deletes Cydia along with Yalu is by erasing the device using iCloud.

How to Remove Yalu App and Cydia Using iCloud Without Restoring Fresh iOS

Step 1: Create a backup of your device either using iTunes or iCloud so that you don’t lose anything in case something bad happens to the device during the process.

Step 2: Reboot your device so that Yalu is disabled.

Step 3: Enable Find my iPhone on your device and connect it to the working internet source. You can either use Wi-Fi or cellular data.

Enable Find iPhone

Step 4: Launch a browser on a PC and sign into your iCloud.com account.

Step 5: Open Find iPhone and enter your AppleID’s password again.
