If you are using a jailbroken and/or unlocked iPhone/iPod/iPad, you will be well familiar with this handy software “TinyUmbrella” that is used to save SHSH blobs and to restore and downgrade to previous iOS versions. This new version of TinyUmbrella supports iOS 4.1 which is being expected in this week and it also supports newly announced iPod Touch 4. (I am still confused. Is it iPod Touch 4 or iPod Touch 4G? Please leave a comment about this below.)
Here are the new features in TinyUmbrella 4.02.x:
Baseband Protection – Updating to 4.1 using TinyUmbrella will protect your baseband from update.THIS ONLY APPLIES TO IPHONE 4!!!!! If you have a 3G or 3GS and you update to 4.1 your baseband will likely be updated.
SHSH Retrieval from Cydia – If you don’t have your SHSH locally, TinyUmbrella will request them from Cydia on-demand; allowing the restore to continue
Automatically point hosts to Cydia – Once you close TinyUmbrella, it points your hosts file to Cydia (for further baseband protection and update/restores without TinyUmbrella)
If you rely on jailbreak or unlock, don’t update your iPhone/iPad/iPod to iOS 4.1 until iPhone Dev Team releases a new jailbreak tool for this iOS version.
