Unlock for iPhone 4 Running on iOS 4.2.1 Coming Within A Month

The current version of Ultrasn0w unlock, which was updated last month, supports only iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G running on iOS 4.2.1 after the baseband of these devices has been updated to iPad baseband. However, iPhone 4 users who are on iOS 4.2.1 with baseband 02.10.04 and 3.10.1 are still waiting for an unlock.

The iPhone baseband hacker, Sherif Hashif has confirmed, recently, on twitter while replying to a user that iPhone 4 unlock on the latest baseband and firmware can be released within a month.

For those who don’t speak Arabic, here is the translation of the tweet sent to Sherif:

Gerges2001: @sherif_hashim My military service will start on January 16, will I be able to unlock my iPhone 4 before that date?

Keeping in view the recent updates about iPhone jailbreak and unlock, we can expect the new/updated tools in the following order:

  1. Untethered jailbreak for all idevices on iOS 4.2.1 by Christmas
  2. Unlock for baseband 02.10.04 and 3.10.1 (iPhone 4 on iOS 4.2.1) within a month from now.
