If you remember, we had already predicted that Electra jailbreak was coming for iOS 11.2 – iOS 11.3.1 after the release of a working exploit by a Google’s developer. Finally, the time is over and the CoolStar team has released the semi-tethered jailbreak tool. In this post, we will share how we can use Electra 1131 to jailbreak iOS 11.2 – iOS 11.3.1.
The Electra method of jailbreaking is very easy to follow if you have already used Yalu jailbreak. The main steps are almost identical. In both tools, we use Cydia Impactor to install IPA file on the iPhone and then run the installed app to complete the jailbreak procedure.
How to Use Electra jailbreak for iOS 11.2 – iOS 11.3.1
Step 1: First of all download the latest version of Electra 1131 tool from the CoolStar official website. There are two versions available on the website. One version is used with Apple’s registered developer account, while the other version is used with the non-developer account. The developer account is that account which we get after paying a $99 fee for a year. If you are not registered with the Apple’s developer program, you should download non-dev account.
Step 2: Download the latest version of Cydia Impactor, unzip it in an easily accessible place, like on the Desktop of your computer.
Step 3: Connect your 64-bit device with the PC using lightning cable, and make a backup of your device using the recent version of iTunes. This step is very important so that you can restore the backup file on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch in case something bad happens to your iDevice while performing the iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak process.
Step 4: Now close iTunes and fire up Cydia impactor which will recognize your iPhone immediately. If it doesn’t detect your iPhone, make sure you have selected the “trust the computer” option while connecting iPhone with PC.
Step 5: Drag and drop the download Electra IPA file on-to Cydia impactor. You will be asked to enter your Apple ID and Password in the following pop-ups. Enter your credential details to proceed further.
Step 6: Cydia Impactor will start installing Electra App on your iPhone. Once installed, go to Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management > your Apple ID > and then trust it.
We have already discussed how we can use Cydia Impactor to sideload the apps on your device in details in our previous post.
Step 7: Before going for the further steps, it is important that you disable Passcode, turn off TouchID / FaceID, disable Siri, enable AirPlane mode and restart your iPhone. Though these requirements are not mandatory but are recommended by the official Electra team to speed up the jailbreak process.
Step 8: Now launch the Electra app from the homescreen of your iPhone and tap on the “Jailbreak” button.
The app will start jailbreaking your device. After the jailbreak process completes, the device will respring and you will see a new Cydia icon on the homescreen.
Launch Cydia and start installing your favorite tweaks and apps.
If you don’t get success in the first attempt, please keep trying for several times before looking for a solution. Many users reported that they finally got a successful jailbreak after a few attempts.
